Sharon C. Stevenson, age 79, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, April 28, 2024, at Wilmington Hospital.
She was born March 16, 1945, and raised in and around Wilmington, Delaware by her late parents Margaret (Peggy) and Edward L. Charles. She graduated from Brandywine High School in 1963 where she met a fell in love with her to-be-husband Russ. She attended Memorial Hospital School of Nursing and graduated in 1966 and continued at Memorial Hospital for five years as a nurse.
She was happiest in her roles as wife, Mom, Mommom, and Aunt Sharon. She enjoyed camping in the mountains and visiting the beach. She loved cross stitch, crafts, baking cookies, and shopping.
Sharon is survived by her husband of 55 years Russell Stevenson. Her daughter Beth Lawson (Del), granddaughters Zoe and Ruby, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Edward K. Charles.
A gathering for family and friends will be held at the McCrery & Harra Funeral Home, 3924 Concord Pike, Wilmington, DE, on Wednesday, May 8 with visitation at 10am and service at 11am. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers donations can be sent to St. Jude’s Research Hospital for Children.
