Christopher duMont Lauer, age 49, died on November 23, 2015 surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer. He is survived by his loving wife, Tracy Lee Richmond Lauer, daughter, Toby, step daughters Hailey and Emma Richmond-Boudewyns, Camille and Renata Brito, and grandsons, Jackson Vernon and Alexander Price as well as his parents, Kenneth and Pauline Lauer, brother Scott Lauer and his wife Susan, and sisters, Cheryl Graf and husband, Ronald, and Lee Kellett and husband, Steven, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Chris was a graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School, the University of Delaware and Wesley College. His career in journalism began at UD as author of “Lauer’s Logic” for “The Review”. He was a jazz disc jockey in Mystic, Conn. He then moved to California working for the San Francisco Weekly and became owner/publisher of the weekly “Edge City” and then an NBC writer and newscaster in Eureka. He then moved back to Delaware where he worked for Clement Publishing Group before establishing his own business as Delaware Editorial Services. He designed safety posters for large companies including Kellogg and OSHA, and wrote the “Lawful Workplace”, a monthly publication. He also authored several books. For the last few years Chris began teaching high school English and most recently taught at Mt. Pleasant High School. A gifted artist he was often featured on the Wilmington Art Loop.

A visitation will be held at McCrery and Harra Funeral Home, 3924 Concord Pike from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, November 27, 2015 with an informal service of remembrance and memory sharing at 7:00 p.m. (Additional parking is available in the rear parking lot of the Brandywine YMCA, 3 Mt. Lebanon Rd.) A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Helena’s Catholic Church, 602 Philadelphia Pike at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 28, 2015.
