ESTHER C CARRE

Esther C. Carré, age 84 of Wilmington, DE, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 25, 2016.
Esther was born December 1, 1931, daughter of the late George Cook and Esther (Brown) Cook. She spent her entire life living in the Wilmington area. She graduated from Wilmington High School in 1948.
Esther married Victor Carré in January 1953. Esther worked for 10 years in the office of Bancroft Mills. Later she worked at J.C. Penney retiring after 30 years of service in 1993. After retirement, she volunteered at the Christiana Hospital for 13 years. She was an active member of St. Barnabas Episcopal Church for over 55 years. She was also a member of Naomi Chapter No. 20 OES. She was an avid reader and enjoyed researching family history and loved listening to all types of music. She and Victor also enjoyed working the polls on election days. Esther was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
Esther was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years; Victor Carré. She is survived by her son, Victor and his wife Diana of Cochranville, PA; daughter Norma Jean Carré of Wilmington and her friend Wayne Wiggins; three grandchildren, Bryan and Morgan of Cochranville, PA and Robert of Prague, Czech Republic. In addition to her parents, Esther was preceded in death by her brother, George A. Cook and half brother, James R. Cook.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Saturday, October 29 from 9:30 to 10:30 am, at McCrery and Harra Funeral Homes. 3710 Kirkwood Hwy.(Duncan Rd), Wilmington, where a funeral service will follow at 10:30 am. Burial at Greenhill Presbyterian Cemetery will be private.
