Carol Ann Bailey, age 60, of Bear, DE (formerly of Springfield, PA) went to be with her Lord, dad, and brothers on October 26, 2016, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Philadelphia to Stanley J. and Helen A. Kristekas, and was preceded in death by her Dad and brothers, Stanley and Joseph.

Carol graduated from Springfield High School in 1973 and went to work for the DuPont Company (Finance Department) for the next 36 years before retiring in 2010 with her husband, Ron.

Carol was a devoted mother, wife, and friend of many throughout her life. She really enjoyed organizing and hostessing, everything from weddings, work related holiday and retirement parties, to family dinners and get-togethers to celebrate birthdays and especially family Christmas parties.

Carol courageously battled inflammatory breast cancer since diagnosis in September 2011. Never one to play the role of a victim, she remained optimistic and was consoling of others who surrounded her during these last five years.

Carol leaves behind her loving husband, Ron; mother, Helen; daughters, Kristin Leigh Carpenter (husband Jeff) and Michelle Nicole Larkin (husband Vic); and many loving family members and friends, including many adored nieces, nephews, cousins, great nieces and nephews, and a great-great niece and newly arrived great-great nephew.

The family wishes to express their sincere thanks for all the cards, gifts, flowers and supportive outpouring of love and thoughtfulness from both family and friends. A special thanks also for the compassion and loving care provided by the doctors, especially Dr. David D. Biggs, nurses, staff and aides of the Helen F. Graham Cancer Center at Christiana Care Health Services, the specialty rehab staff at the center, CCHS 6B unit, Manor Care-Pike Creek Rehab facility and also the wonderful people of Delaware Hospice, Inc.

Services for Carol will be held on Saturday, October 29, 2016 at McCrery & Harra Funeral Home, 3924 Concord Pike, Wilmington, DE, with a viewing at 9:30 am and a service at 10:30 am. Burial will follow at All Saints Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Helen F. Graham Breast Cancer Research Fund, 4701 Ogletown-Stanton Road, Newark, DE 19713.
