Joseph Hendel Wallis, Jr., age 84, of Wilmington, DE, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 28, 2016, after a brief illness.

The son of Joseph H. Wallis, Sr. and and Margaret Frist Wallis, Joe was born in Wilmington on September 27, 1932. He graduated from Salesianum School in 1950 and received his B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering in 1954 from the University of Delaware.

Joe retired in 1993 from Star Enterprise LLC as Manager – Technology Services, following a 37 year career at the Delaware City Refinery.

Joe cherished time with his family summering in Avalon, NJ, where he enjoyed all types of shore activities, particularly sailing his catamaran. He was also an avid bridge player.

Joe was a member of the Church of the Holy Child and attended Maris Stella Catholic Church of Avalon, NJ.

Joe is survived by his beloved wife Patricia and children William of West Chester, PA, Lynn Kissig of Newark, DE, Joseph of The Woodlands, TX and Robin Koerber (Rick) of Newark, DE. Survivors also include grandchildren Shannon, Sean, Brienne, Brian and Megan, and great grandchildren Jared, Santina and Cara as well as nieces and nephews. His sister Joan Hauptle preceded him in death.

Friends and relatives are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, November 5, at 10 am at the Church of the Holy Child, 2500 Naamans Rd., Wilmington, DE 19810. Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery.
