Lt. Col. James T. Collins, US Army (Ret), age 95 of Claymont, DE, passed peacefully at home on November 12, 2016.
Born in 1921 to William and Elizabeth Collins, Jim graduated from Wilmington High School and attended the University of Delaware. He joined the Delaware National Guard in 1938 and was inducted to the United States Army in 1940 and served in the European theater in World War II. He continued service in the Delaware National Guard and developed the marksmanship program. He retired from the Army reserves with rank of Lieutenant Colonel in 1968. He was an engineer with the Atlantic Refining company for 17 years. In 1965 he founded Collins Supply Company, a building supply company in South Wilmington. He was past president of Brandywine Rod and Gun club; past president of Delaware Antique Arms Association; and a member of the Military Order of the World Wars. He enjoyed fishing at Sunset Lake.

Jim is survived by his wife of 67 years, Margaret; 5 sons, Joseph of Claymont, Paul and wife Audrey of New Canaan, CT, James and wife Gail of Wilmington, David of Claymont and John of Wilmington; daughter, Margaret and husband Don Coffin of Tyaskin MD; 2 siblings, Paul Collins of New Castle and June Love of Wilmington, 4 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

A visitation will be held from 10 AM to 11 AM on Thursday, November 17 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 3200 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont, DE. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 AM. Interment will be in All Saints Cemetery with military honors.
