Marjorie W. Behrens, 98, died peacefully in her sleep November 19, 2016. She was born August 6, 1918, in Hot Springs, South Dakota to Alfonso and Mary (Carten) Billups.

Marjorie was a graduate of Chadron College. She worked for the Department of the Navy in Washington, DC during World War II.

Marjorie married Robert W. Behrens of Hermosa, South Dakota November 28, 1942. They were happily married for 40 years until her husband’s death in 1983. They had six children: Mary Behrens (deceased 2008), Elizabeth Taylor, Theresa Thomas, William C. Behrens (deceased 2016), Robert E. Behrens, and John Behrens; nine grandchildren: Jennifer Kirk, (Kenneth, Christopher, and Katharine Thomas), (Alicia, Jillian, Carolyn, Rebecca, and William E. Behrens), and five great grandchildren (Courtney, Cory, Tripp, Chase, and Finn Kirk).

Marjorie was an active member at St. Mary of the Assumption Church for decades. After her children were raised she developed her talent in flower arranging for which she won several awards.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00AM, Tuesday, November 22, 2016, at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 7200 Lancaster Pike, Hockessin, DE 19707. Burial will be at St. Patrick’s Cemetery, 1474 Ashland-Clinton School Road, Hockessin, DE 19707.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to The Salvation Army, 400 North Orange Street, Wilmington, DE 19801.
