Dr. Erik Collins, PhD, of Wilmington, Delaware, died peacefully in his sleep at Brandywine Nursing and Rehabilitation on Tuesday, January 10th at the age of 78.
Erik is survived by his wife, Janice (Lloyd) Collins, sons, Brett Collins (Sonia) of CO, Brian Collins (Susan) of NJ, stepchildren, Nicole Zapata (Desmond McCaffery) of PA, Benjamin Zapata of FL, and Tobias Zapata of DE. He is also survived by his three brothers, David Collins (Elvira) of IL, Glen Collins (Mary) of IL, and Kevin Collins (Mary), of MI, and eight grandchildren: Harlan, Walter, Kevin, Jordan, TJ, Kieran, Logan, and Calima.
Dr. Collins retired from Delaware State Hospital as a psychologist. He was a loving father, an avid reader, and enjoyed all things sailing and wooden boats. He was lovingly cared for by the staff of Brandywine Nursing and Rehab for the past four years.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 14th at 2 p.m. at McCrery & Harra at 3924 Concord Pike, Wilmington, DE. Visitation will from 1-2 p.m.
