James C. Jobes, Jr. went home to be with the Lord on January 25, 2017. Jim was known as Bud and Buddy and was considered as Pop Pop to many. Pork Chop was his CB radio handle because he loved anything made form pork. Jim retired from the DuPont Company in 1992 after 36 years as a sheet metal mechanic. He maintained his gorilla-like grip until the very end. He played guitar and loved to sing and yodel. He enjoyed listening and dancing to the old country classics; Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, Hank Williams and Loretta Lynn. He and his late wife, Laura, loved to get in the car and go for a ride. This love of traveling led to them to RVing for many years including destinations such as Branson, MO and South Florida. Jim took pleasure in tinkering around the house. If he didn’t know how to do something, he’d figure it out. Jim was an avid bowler participating in many leagues over the years. He participated in the 2001, 2005 and 2008 Senior Olympics. He loved to watch all kinds of sports on TV and was an avid Eagles fan. He was a kind and generous soul and could always make you laugh.

He was preceded in death by his wife Laura K. Jobes. Jim is survived by his children, Cynthia Winchester and John Jobes and John’s wife Janet, his brother, Lewis L. Jobes and his grandchildren, Joseph, Jacob and Kati Lynn Winchester.

A private graveside service will take place at Harford Memorial Gardens, Aberdeen, MD. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Jim’s memory to the Michael J. Fox Foundation, P.O. Box 5014 Hagerstown, MD 21741-5014 or call 800-708-7644.
