JANICE P. (HENDERSON) COPELAND

After a long struggle with Alzheimer’s disease and an immune deficiency disorder, Janice peacefully passed away on January 26. Janice was the daughter of the late Oliver A. and Virginia M. Henderson. Raised in Stanton, Janice was a 1969 graduate of John Dickinson High School and attended Goldey Beacom College. Shortly before high school graduation, she met her future husband Ken with whom she shared 46 years of marriage. Janice was employed by Sears Home Services as a human resource generalist until she retired early to care for her parents and to assist in the kindergarten classroom where her daughter taught. Janice was also an altruistic volunteer for many causes. She especially enjoyed time spent with her five grandchildren and showered them with love. Janice was an active, lifelong member of the St. Mark’s United Methodist Church family. Additionally, Janice enjoyed beaches, boardwalks, dancing and good times spent with family and friends. In addition to her husband, Janice is survived by her son Kevin D.O. (Lori), daughter Jennie (Tyler), and grandchildren Emily, Jillian, Owen, Ryan and Landon. She is also survived by her loving sister and best friend Esta (Mark), devoted nephew Dino DiOssi, and numerous other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The family is grateful for the excellent care given to Janice by her many doctors and healthcare workers over the years, and recently at CCHS 5-C and Cadia Silverside.
