Edward was born September 23, 1957 to Aleksander and Irene Beresniewicz and was a native Wilmingtonian. He passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Wednesday March 15, 2017 in the company of his dear friend and partner Bonni Tipton.
As a young boy Ed demonstrated his interest and talent for all things mechanical, taking apart everything from toys to toasters in order to “see how they work”. At age 10 he saved the family a professional repair bill by fixing a broken dishwasher. He was very proud of the 1971 Camaro he bought for $400 and restored inside and out into a very sweet ride. His motorcycle was another source of pride and pleasure on rides through the Delaware Valley.
Ed graduated from Concord High School in 1975 and immediately entered the Navy, where he served for five years in the Western Pacific. He later graduated from DeVry Institute of Technology with an associates degree in electronics. Ed worked in the electronics field for a number of years in Texas before returning to his hometown of Wilmington. He lived in the family home in Woodbine and was always ready with a helpful hand, especially in caring for his mother during the last difficult years of her life. In Wilmington Ed continued working in electronics at a number of firms, ending with Omega Engineering.
Always prepared to speak his mind and stand firm behind his opinions, Ed was a loyal and steadfast friend to those close to him. His friendships were deep and long-lived, not shallow and fleeting. He stood straight and tall, always proud but never arrogant.
Ed is survived by his father Aleksander and four siblings: John, Alex, Richard and Mark. He will be deeply missed by family and friends alike.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, March 20 at 2 pm at the McCrery & Harra Funeral Home, 3924 Concord Pike, Wilmington, DE 19803 where friends are invited to pay their respects after 1 pm. Interment will take place privately.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made in Ed's name to the Helen Graham Cancer Center, 4701 Ogletown Stanton Rd., Newark, DE 19713.
