George L. Squire, Sr., aged 89, passed away peacefully on March 31, 2017 surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Chester, PA to the late Joe and Mary Squire. George attended both public and parochial schools in Chester, graduating from St. James High School in 1945. He served as an altar boy at St. Michael's Church. He joined the Navy and was a World War II veteran. He then went on to graduate from Temple University in 1950. George was employed by Haveg Co. in Marshallton for 20 years, retiring in 1980 as plant manager.

He was an avid bowler and enjoyed gardening, music and singing. After retirement, he was a dedicated investor and followed the stock market closely. George was a member of the American Legion and was a lifelong Phillies and Eagles fan. He was well-known and admired by all who knew him for his remarkable intellect, memory and ability to recall the entire history of his extended family.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Anna Reynolds Squire, his children, George L. Squire, Jr. (Amy), Francine Urey (Mike Grose), Lawrence Squire, Brian Squire (Judy), Sharon Squire (Scott Stewart), his siblings Virginia Schukraft, John "Jack" Squire and Robert Squire, his grandchildren, Erin, Matthew, Daniel, Kevin, Nathan, Justin, Ryan and great-grandson Joseph. He was pre-deceased by his brother, Joseph Squire.
