JOHN BLAKE STEELE WAUGH, age 93, of Wilmington, DE, died on April 5, 2017 at Heartland House Hospice in Wilmington, DE, USA.
John was born November 19th 1923 in Sydney, Australia. His fascination with the physical world and mathematics led him to earn a BS in Physics at Sydney University and a MS in Physics at the New South Wales Technical University. He married his predeceased wife, Kathleen Jessie Waugh (nee Noble) in Melbourne in 1953. They moved extensively, following his work around the world. John worked in electronics design and engineering for governments, universities, and corporations. His work included pure and applied research in such areas as nuclear reactor control systems, semiconductor materials, analog and digital circuit design, optical data storage systems, and computer controlled micro-force sensors. He was a ham radio operator with the call sign VK1JW W2 and built computers and other electronics in the basement in his spare time. He was a member of the IEEE and the IEE.
John is survived by his children Gregory of Milford, PA, Michael of Longs, SC, and Philip of Sudbury, VT; daughters-in-law, Ann and Patti, and his grandchildren Kyle, Ryan, John, Andrew, and Elizabeth Waugh.
