ANITA DANIELE COTTOM
Anita Daniele Cottom, age 44, of Newark, Delaware, suddenly passed away on April 8, 2017 in Tenancingo, Mexico.
Anita was born to the late Norman E Cottom, Jr. and The Rev. Anna L Cottom of Wilmington, Delaware. The family resided in West Chester for most of her developmental years, and they had lived previously in Yeadon and Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
Anita was the middle child. She and her two siblings Andrea D. Fair and Alicea D Cottom had a very strong sisterly bond. The girls participated in softball, music lesson (piano), and dance lessons (ballet). As children, they would have carnivals in the backyard and sell lemonade at a time when it was safe to do so. Anita enjoyed dancing, modeling, make up, computers, learning new medical terminology and medicines. One of her greatest attributes was her leadership ability. She was often the leader in groups of her friends. It was hard to find anyone who did not love Anita.
Anita attended the West Chester schools including Glen Acres, Stetson, and East high school. She was involved in the gifted program called LEAP. And she was very knowledgeable about many subjects including but not limited to medical information. Anita was a gifted cosmetologist and she worked as a beauty consultant for Estee Lauder cosmetics at Macys. Additionally, she held several other positions including but not limited to Comp USA.
Anita is survived by her three children: Annamina Daniele, Tristan Hamlet, and Asari Christian. Additional survivors include her mother Rev Anna L Cottom, her sisters and brother: Andrea Fair (Henry), Alicea Cottom, Meghan Peoples and Joseph Peoples. She was the beloved Aunt to Jasmine, Seth, Chase, Isaiah, and Naomi. She was the niece of George Lynch (Mary), Janet Lynch, Richard Cottom, Janice Cottom and the late Robert Lynch as well as cousins and other relatives and friends.
There will be a celebration of her life on Saturday, April 29 at 11:00 a.m. at Aldersgate United Methodist church 2313 Concord Pike, Wilmington, DE. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to a trust set up for her, Trust of Anita Cottom, c/o Aldersgate Church, 2313 Concord Pike, Wilmington, DE.
