James H. Semerteen, Jr. 81, passed away peacefully Wednesday May 3, 2017. Born and raised in Wilmington, DE, son of the late J. Harvey and Edith M. Semerteen.
Jim worked at Franklin Rubber Stamp along side of his brother in-law for over 40 years, and in maintenance at Brandywine YMCA, a job he really enjoyed.
Jim was a member of Centerville Lodge #37 Independent Order of Odd Fellows, he was past Grand Patriarch and was also an associate member of other lodges in Delaware.
Jim was predeceased by his sister Dorothy S. Warrick. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Margaret; his children, James H. III (Robin), and Lori J. Holland (Ron). Two grandchildren, Donna L. Semerteen, Edwin W. Barto, III and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Monday, May 8 from 5-7 pm at the McCrery and Harra Funeral Home, 3710 Kirkwood Highway Wilmington 19808. Friends are also welcome on Tuesday morning from 10-11 am followed by a service at 11am at Elsmere Presbyterian Church, 606 New Rd. Wilmington 19805. Interment to follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park. Flowers will be accepted or donations made to the Delaware SPCA, www.delspca.org.
