Rosa N. Ruiz-Alsop, age 67, of Wilmington, DE, passed peacefully among family on Saturday, June 17, 2017 in Christiana Hospital.
She was born in Laja, Chile to the late Hernan Ruiz and Maria Paredes. Rosa received her Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Concepcion. Then in 1979, she came to the United States and received her Master’s in Chemical Engineering and Ph.D. from the University of Texas, Austin. Rosa worked for the Dupont Company in Research and Development, at the Experimental Station where she was a research engineer. She retired in 2015 after 27 years. Rosa was a member of AIChE and ACS. Rosa loved to read, embroider, travel but especially shop (not necessarily buy).
She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Albert “Chuck” W. Alsop; a twin sister, Maria Cristina Ruiz-Padilla; 4 brothers, Hernan, Ramon, Sergio and Mario Ruiz and numerous nieces, nephews and grandnephews.
In the near future, a private celebration of her life will be held in Wilmington. Her cremains will be interred with her family in Chile.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggest donations be made in Rosa’s name to your preferred cancer or pulmonary disease charity.
