John Russell Daisey (Russ), 93, of Tybrook, Wilmington passed quietly on June 26, 2017. A loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, he is survived by his wife of 22 years, Evelyn Evans Daisey, and her two sons, Mark DiJiacomo (Trish) and Michael DiJiacomo, Russ' two grandchildren, Jason R. Daisey and Jenna D. Holden (Ken), step-grandchildren, Jack and Erin DiJiacomo, and great-grandchildren, Olivia and Sabrina Holden. Russ was predeceased by his late wife Elizabeth Webber Daisey, his only son, John R. Daisey Jr., and all of his siblings. Russ was well loved and had close relationships with many nieces and nephews. He was a very caring and generous man!
Russ retired from the Dupont Company and was a Navy Veteran. Russ served in WWII on six different carriers, and was awarded two Navy Presidential Unit Citations, an American Campaign Medal, a WWII Victory Medal, and other citations. During his retirement he and Evelyn traveled often with Navy friends and attended many reunions. His family was actively involved in Elsmere Presbyterian Church. He was an engineer at heart and could fix almost anything. Russ also enjoyed spending time by the water with his family. He was a wonderful man and will be missed by many!
A service for Russ will be held at 11 am, on Thursday June 29th, with visitation at 10 am. at Elsmere Presbyterian Church, 606 New Rd. Elsmere, DE 19805. Interment will be held privately for his family. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O.
