LeeRoy Aiken, Sr, age 73, for Wilmington, DE, passed away on Monday, July 3, 2017 after a long illness, to join his wife of 50 years, Karen and son LeeRoy, Jr.
He was born and raised in Newark and was the son of the late Blanche and Ralph Aiken. LeeRoy graduated from the former Brown Tech HS. He worked as an electrician for the DuPont Company for 35 years and retired in 2013. LeeRoy served his country proudly in the Army National Guard for 25 years.
He enjoyed going to his trailer, with his late wife at Indian Acres on the Chesapeake Bay, MD. He also liked to watch baseball and professional wrestling, but most important to him was spending time with his family. LeeRoy attended St. Barnabas Episcopal Church.
He is survived by 2 sons, Michael (Aida) and Chris (Alayna); 3 grandchildren, Anna, Kimberly and Josiah; a daughter in law, Kathleen; 5 siblings, Robert, Virginia, Albert, George and Donna, a beloved sister in law, Lorraine McLaughlin and numerous nieces and nephews. LeeRoy is also preceded in death by his 3 siblings, John, William and Diane.
A viewing will be held on Monday, July 10, from 6-8 pm, at McCrery & Harra Funeral Homes, 3710 Kirkwood Hwy(at Duncan Rd) Wilmington, where a funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 11, at 11am. Burial will follow at Gracelawn Memorial Park, New Castle.
