Willard R. Talley (Little Tut), age 92, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on Sunday, July 23rd, 2017. A lifelong resident of Wilmington, DE, Willard was currently residing at Newark Manor Nursing Home. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter W. and Catherine R. (Scott) Talley, his wife of 42 years, Anna R. (Oddo) Talley (Anne), his sisters Anna C. Ennis and Catherine L. Hitchens, and his brothers Walter W. Talley and Charles A. Talley.
He is survived by his son, Willard J. Talley and his wife Yvonne of Eastchester, NY, his daughter, Christine T. Miller and her husband, Jeffrey of Wilmington, and his grandchildren, Radley E. Miller of Wilmington, and Rebecca A. (Becca) Miller and her fiancé Corey J. Will of Middletown. He is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews.
Willard is a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army Air Corps. He retired from the maintenance and parks department of New Castle County in 1986. He was also employed by Diamond State Tanning prior to its closing. Willard was an accomplished softball player, playing on two nationally recognized softball teams; Frankie's Steak Shop and the Polish American Civic Association.
The family wishes to thank the amazing staff at Newark Manor Nursing Home for all of their love, care and compassion during his time there.
Visitation will be held at McCrery and Harra Funeral Home, 3710 Duncan Road, Wilmington, DE 19808, on Thursday, August 3rd from 10:00AM-11:30AM followed by a funeral service beginning at 11:30AM. Burial will be private at the Delaware Veteran's Memorial Cemetery.
