Harry Daniel Locke, Sr., age 89, of Strasburg, VA, formerly of Wilmington, DE, died on Thursday, August 31, 2017 at Greenfield Reflections in Strasburg.

Harry was a 1946 graduate of Eddystone High School in Eddystone, PA. During the Korean War, Harry served our country in the Army National Guard. He worked for the DuPont Company as a master electrician at the Experimental Station, retiring after 35 years of service. He was a faithful attendee of Brandywine Valley Baptist Church.

Harry is survived by his wife of almost 70 years, Bernice Lewis Locke; son Harry Daniel (Dan) Locke, Jr and wife Deanna of Strasburg, VA; granddaughters Rachel Mattes and husband Danny of Dover, DE, Rebecca Locke and fiancé Dalton Dillman both of Strasburg, VA.
He was preceded in death by his parents Howard and Ethel (Peters) Locke; sisters Mary Dauberman and Margaret Baxter; brothers Vernon Locke, Howard Locke, William Locke, and Carl Milton Locke.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 6 at 1 pm at the McCrery & Harra Funeral Home, 3924 Concord Pike, Wilmington, DE 19803 officiated by Reverend Bo Matthews. Friends are invited to greet the family beginning at 12:30 pm. Interment will follow the service at Lawncroft.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made in Harry’s name to Emmanuel Church at Fishers Hill, PO Box 45, Fishers Hill, VA 22626.
