James “Les” Thomas, age 70, of Wilmington, DE, passed away Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at Parkview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center after a long illness. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Walton and his mother, Virginia Lula Thomas, his sister Ruth Nickels and granddaughter Aubrey E. Thomas. He is survived by his son, Mark (Jessie), his brother John (Anne), 2 grandsons, Nathan and Braiden Thomas along with 7 nieces and 1 nephew.
He was born in Wilmington, DE and grew up in Marshallton Heights, DE. He served his country in the U.S. Army as a door gunner in Vietnam. After his hitch in the service, Les took up plumbing as a vocation and since Les enjoyed the outdoors, that led to his hobbies of gardening and raising dogs.

A visitation will be held on Monday October 2 from 10-11am followed by a memorial service beginning at 11am, at Marshallton United Methodist Church, (where Les has been a member since 1950), 1105 Stanton, Rd. Wilmington 19808. Burial with military honors will follow at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery Bear, DE.
