John Edward “Jack” Ledden, age 68, of Wilmington, DE, died at Seasons Hospice in Christiana Hospital on November 9, 2017 from complications of a decade of living with multiple myeloma. He was born July 23, 1949 in Wilmington, the firstborn of the late Marie E. Herlihy and Edward G. Ledden, Jr.

He is survived by his siblings and their spouses, Edward and Kristin Ledden and Ann and Charles DeFelice, as well as by his nieces Elizabeth DeFelice, Rebecca Ledden, Lauren Bailey Kolazas, Vanessa Bailey, and Robin Bailey.

Jack graduated summa cum laude from Tufts University. In addition, he completed a master’s degree and doctoral level graduate work in astrophysics at the University of Massachusetts. He lived in Ann Arbor, MI, Blacksburg, VA, and Amherst, MA before returning to Delaware 25 years ago. He was a financial advisor. Jack had varied interests including astronomy, genealogy, music, and philately.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Wednesday, November 15 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary of the Assumption, 7200 Lancaster Pike, Hockessin, with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. at the church. Interment will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Ashland. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Helen F.
