Davis Buckels, Jr, age 93, of Wilmington, DE passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 30, 2017, in his residence at Foulk Manor North.
Born in Baton Rouge, LA, Davis was the son of Davis (Sr) and Carrie Buckels. He married the love of his life, Fay Sobers, in 1944. Davis served in WWII in the Army Air Corps as a B-17 bomber pilot flying numerous missions over Germany in 1944-1945. He graduated from LSU in 1948. Davis worked throughout his professional career with Solvay/Allied Chemical/Honeywell as companies were bought and consolidated, serving in managerial positions and as Executive Vice President. He and Fay later moved to the Wilmington area to be close to their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Davis was a person of great faith and actively served in his church. He was a loving and devoted father, grandfather and great-grandfather who most enjoyed spending time with his family. He was passionate about fishing, baseball, LSU football and all sports on TV. Davis loved everything LSU and made his opinions known as he watched all his favorite teams. He was an avid crossword puzzler and enjoyed completing the NY Times Sunday crossword puzzle in ink.
Davis is survived by his son, Jeff, and wife, Deb, his daughter, Jackie, and husband, Phil Biggs, grandchildren Johanna, Melinda (husband, Daniel), Mark, Amanda (husband, Tom), Travis, Kelsey (husband, Jesse), Bob, Allyson and great-grandchildren Emily, Wyatt, Elena, Cora and Jashir. He was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Fay, and son, Barry.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family on Saturday, December 9, 2017 from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at McCrery and Harra Funeral Homes at 3924 Concord Pike, Wilmington. A memorial service will be held beginning at 11:00 AM. Burial will be held privately
