On January 19, 2018, Charles, 85, passed away while surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Wilmington, Delaware to the late Charles and Edith Dennie.
Charles was a 1950 graduate of Fletcher Brown Vocation School. He worked at Joseph Bancroft & Sons for 40 years. He served in the Army during the Korean War. He was a member of Salem United Methodist Church. In his free time he enjoyed watching the Philadelphia sports teams, his monthly meetings with his friends from Rockford Road and spending time with family
He was preceded in death by his wife, Bea, his sister, Mary Ann Loomis and brother-in-law, Earl Loomis.
Charles is survived by his daughter, Susan Dennie, his son, Charles M. Dennie, Jr. (Meriam), his grandchildren, Elizabeth Van Aulen (Jason) and Charles M. Dennie, III (Sarah), his great-grandchildren, Achilles and Lincoln Van Aulen and Grace, Ruth and Charles M. Dennie, IV, and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the McCrery & Harra Funeral Home, 3710 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE 19808 where a service will follow at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests making donations in memory of Charles to Salem UM Church, 469 Salem Church Road, Newark, Delaware 19702.
