Paul Emil Eriksen, age 87, of Newark, DE passed away peacefully on February 8, 2018 from complications of pneumonia. The son of the late Paul A. and Karin A. Eriksen, Paul graduated from Lansdowne High School in Philadelphia, PA, enlisted in the US Navy in 1948 and served on the anti-submarine destroyer USS Rich. After discharge in 1952 he joined the Delaware National Guard, retiring in 1978 as Staff Sergeant.
Paul joined the Bell Telephone Company in 1952. After retiring from Verizon in 1995 he managed Lenfest’s Wilmington cable television headend. He was a HAM radio operator, a private airplane pilot and a 32nd degree Mason.
Paul leaves to cherish his memory his beloved and loving wife of 38 years, Anne C. Eriksen, also a pilot and his flying partner. He is also survived by his son Paul A. Eriksen II; Anne’s children William T. Grussemeyer (Joanne), Brett J. Grussemeyer, Susan Evans (David) and their children; his brother Rolf F. Eriksen (Sue); four granddaughters, three nephews and one niece. He was predeceased by his sister Karin E. Hague.
A celebration of Paul’s life will be held at 1:00pm Friday, February 16th with visitation beginning at noon at McCrery & Harra Funeral Home, 3710 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE 19808. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Paul’s name to Shriner’s Hospital for Children, 3551 N. Broad St., Philadelphia, PA 19140 or on line at
