Wilmington - James K. “Jim” Titlow, Jr., passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at the age of 91, in Wilmington with his loved ones by his side.
Jim was born and raised in Reading, PA and served in the Army Corps during World War II. After the war, Jim enrolled at the University of Pennsylvania and graduated with a degree in business in 1950.
Jim married the love of his life, Dorothy (Dotty), in 1953 and embarked on his professional career with Dupont in Wilmington. He subsequently held various positions throughout his career, always providing for his family. Jim had an abiding and well-known love of food and Philadelphia sports. He stood by the Oakland Athletics (Philadelphia), Penn Quakers, and Philadelphia Eagles throughout their trials and tribulations and was fortunate to be able to see the Eagles win their first Super Bowl. He is proud to have raised a couple of generations of sports fans.
Jim was well-liked within the communities of Fairfax in north Wilmington where he and Dotty raised their family and in Lewes where they spent some of their retirement years. Their homes were always warm and inviting where Jim would often be found with the family dog in the kitchen nibbling on something while enjoying sports on TV or on the radio.
Jim was predeceased by his parents, James Sr. and Dorothy, of Wyomissing, PA. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Dorothy; daughter Anne Zubrow (Marc); son James (Susan) and five grandchildren Eric, Jamie (Patrick), Katie, Kyle and Matthew.
He will be missed very much.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Jim's memory to Vitas Hospice, 100 Commerce Dr., Suite 302, Newark, DE 19713 or Shipley Manor Employee Appreciation Fund, 2723 Shipley Rd., Wilmington, DE 19810.
