Wilmington-Frederick M. “Rick” Yarborough, age 72, died peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Friday, February 23, 2018.
He was born in Charleston, WV to the late Patricia (McKenna) and Dr. Victor A. Yarborough. Rick grew up in Saint Albans and graduated from Charleston Catholic HS in 1963. He graduated from Indiana University in 1967 with a Bachelor’s degree in chemistry and then in 1969, he received a MBA from the University of Notre Dame. Rick proudly served his country in the US Navy and the Navy Reserves. He retired in 1990 as a Sr. Chief Petty Officer. Rick was in Freon and Printing Sales for the DuPont Company for 35 years, retiring in 2004. He later worked for VT Graphics in Philadelphia, PA for a short time. He was a member of the Naval Enlisted Reserves Assoc., League Island Chapter, where he currently held the position of president and Fleet Reserves Assoc. Rick enjoyed golf and volunteered for Stockings For Soldiers, Delaware. He most cherished, time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Rick is survived by his wife of 46 years, Pamela Ruse Yarborough, 2 children, Brian C. (Heather) of Middletown, DE and Donna Wallace (Andrew) of New Castle, DE; a brother, Brian A. (Kathryn) of Binghamton, NY, and 2 grandchildren, Madison and Brayden Yarborough.
Rick’s Life will be celebrated on Saturday, March 3, at 3 pm, at the McCrery & Harra Funeral Homes, 3924 Concord Pike, Wilmington, where friends may call after 2 pm. Burial will be held privately, with military honors at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
