JEFFERY GONSECKI

Jeffery Gonsecki of Avondale, PA died on Thursday, March 8 at Christiana Hospital. He was 64. Born in Wilmington, DE, he attended St. Hedwig’s School, Salesianum School, Class of 1971, and The University of Delaware, Class of 1975.

Jeff was in the Army Reserves for over 30 years retiring in 2013 as a colonel. During his career he served in the 358th Civil Affairs Brigade in Norristown, PA and was deployed to Bosnia in 1998 and Kuwait and Iraq from 2002 to 2003.

He also worked as a pipe fitter at Sunship Shipyard, and a management consultant for Proudfoot Consulting Firm and Princeton Productivity Institute. He was a military analyst for ITA International in Virginia Beach, VA until his retirement.

He served on the founding board of the Havre de Grace Maritime Museum in MD for three years. He was a member of the Rattle Snake Gulch Rod and Gun Club in Red Rock, PA. Jeff collected antique British motorcycles and was an avid reader.

He was pre-deceased by his parents Brunny and Stella Gonsecki. His survivors are his wife, Libby Green of Avondale, PA; daughters Laurel Ann of Edinburgh, Scotland and Louisa of Avondale, PA; his brother Gerald Gonsecki of Newark, DE and three nieces, Christine Bravin, Melanie Gonsecki, and Diane Gonsecki, and two grand nephews.

A celebration of his life will be at St. Barnabas’ Episcopal Church, 2800 Duncan Rd, Wilmington DE on Friday, May 11 at 2pm. He was buried with full military honors at Delaware Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery in Bear, DE on Tuesday March 13 with his immediate family present.
