Dorothy L. Goddard passed away on April 25, 2018 at Millcroft Nursing Home surrounded by her family
She was born in New York City to the late Arthur and Anna Fiege. Dorothy was a graduate of George Washington High School in Washington Heights. She spent her early years as a Navy wife eventually arriving in Delaware, in the 60’s. When Dorothy and her family moved to Newark, she became very involved in the Brookside Civic Association. She was also crowned Mrs. Brookside in 1967. She volunteered for Suburban Swim League, Brookside Pool where she was a certified stroke and turn official and she wrote articles for various swim publications. She had been an editor for the Weekly Post and her articles, titled TGIF where published weekly. These articles were human interest stories and stories about her daughters and their life. Dorothy retired from the DuPont Company.
She was preceded in death by her husband James B. Goddard. Dorothy is survived by her daughters’ father, Emanuel Harry Caralivanos, her daughters, Aileen Caralivanos Vietri and Patricia Lee Dooling (Scott), her grandchildren, Anthony Joseph Capriotti, Dean Anthony Vietri, Jr., Kyle Wade Dooling, Abigail Nicole Dooling, Michael Emanuel Vietri and her great- grandson, Nohlan Jack Vietri.
Dorothy’s family would like to thank Delaware Hospice for their continued support and care for the past two years and also the nurses and staff of Millcroft who cared for her during her final days.
Friends may call on Monday, April 30, 2018 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the McCrery & Harra Funeral Home, 3710 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE 19808 where a service will begin at 7:00 p.m. Burial will be private at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
