Anna Bijan Hrynyshyn, age 98, of Wilmington, DE passed away peacefully on May 24, 2018 at Compassionate Care Hospice in St. Francis Hospital. Anna was born in Wilmington, Delaware on February 3, 1920 to the late Michael and Mary Lobozynska Bijan. After graduating from Wilmington High School where she was a member of the National Honor Society, Anna worked as a secretary for a CPA, and First Federal Savings and Loan Association. Anna’s life can best be described as selflessly doing and caring for others. She was a lifelong member of Saints Peter and Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church, where she was very active with the choir, St. Anne’s Sisterhood, and the PTA Sunday School organization. Anna enjoyed baking, gardening, needlepoint, and bingo.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband of 62 years, Right Reverend Mitred Protopresbyter Paul Hrynyshyn in 2004, her brother Morris, and her sister Estelle. Anna is survived by her son, Donald and his wife Kim of Los Angeles, CA; daughter, Christine and her husband Stephen Morrison, Jr. of Georgetown, DE; granddaughter, Sarah and her husband John Marte of Middletown, DE; granddaughter, Martha and her husband Jason Peer of La Plata, MD; and three great-grandchildren, Gabriella Marte, Alex Marte, and David Marte.

Anna’s family extends their appreciation to the staffs of Foulk Manor South and Shipley Manor for her wonderful care over the past years as well as to the staff at Compassionate Care Hospice these last several weeks for their tremendous loving care.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at Saints Peter and Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church, 1406 Philadelphia Pike, Wilmington, DE, where family and friends may call after 10:00am. Interment will be private at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
