Frank Pickering, 93, passed away on June 11, 2018, attended by his loving family.

Frank was born and raised in Rye, NH. He served in the Army Air Corp, based in England, in World War II as a nose gunner on the B-24 and B-29. After meeting his wife while stationed in Tucson, AZ, he lived in Richmond, IN where they married in 1947. He began his 35-year career with General Foods in 1951. He became a Mason in 1955. He and Ann moved to Wilmington in 1959. After retiring, he devoted his time to volunteer work, driving and serving on the Board of Directors of FISH and delivering Meals on Wheels. He was also very active in the Alzheimer’s Men’s Support Group while he cared for his wife for many years. He was a devoted family man who will always be remembered as a gentleman, known for his kindness and generosity. He and his wife loved to dance, and to travel, especially to NH and AZ.

Frank was predeceased by his beloved wife Ann in 2009. He is survived by his loving children, Natalie Freeman (Tom) of Hockessin and James Pickering (Natalie Watson) of Virginia Beach; his granddaughter, Meredith Lomaka (Zach) of Naples FL; and several nephews and nieces.

Friends are invited to a visitation on Sunday, June 17, 2018 from 3:00-5:00 pm at McCrery & Harra Funeral Home, 3710 Kirkwood Hwy, Wilmington, DE 19808. Services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, June 18, 2018 at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1504 West 13th Street, Wilmington, DE 19806. He will be buried in Rye, NH at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in his memory to his favorite charity, The Alzheimer’s Association, 240 N. James St, Suite 100A, Newport, DE 19804 or the Westminster Church.
