A resident of the Stonegates Retirement Community, Anna Mae passed away peacefully on
June 13, 2018, after a long illness. Anna Mae was born in Ridgewood, Queens, New York,
to the late Charles and Agnes (Kelly) Minett. After graduating from high school, she worked
for the Pinkerton Detective Agency and retired after the birth of her son. Prior to moving to Delaware in 1970, Anna Mae and family lived in Columbus, Ohio and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Anna Mae was a woman of strong faith; while living in Pittsburgh she devoted much of her time to various parish organizations including serving as secretary of the Christian Mothers Guild and as a 4th grade catechist. In addition, she was a member of the Association of the Ladies of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul and served as a volunteer at Mercy Hospital. Anna Mae was an extremely generous woman and had a passion for helping people in need across all walks of life. Her good humor and welcoming presence always brightened the room. She enjoyed summer vacations in Ocean City, New Jersey and winters in Florida, with family and friends. She also enjoyed cooking, reading, gardening and playing bridge. Anna Mae is predeceased by Philip, her husband of 65 years; she is survived by her loving son, Gary (Nancy) and several nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank the nurses, aides and entire staff at Stonegates, as well as those from Delaware Hospice, for their commitment and devotion in tending to the needs of Anna Mae. A visitation will be held on June 21st at Church of the Holy Child, 2500 Naamans Road, Wilmington, Delaware from 10:00-11:00 A.M., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 A.M.
