June L. (Bonner) Hanlon, passed away peacefully on July 13, 2018, in the presence of her family. She was 84 years old.
June is predeceased by her parents Frank and Bess Bonner. She is also predeceased by her husband James P. Hanlon, Sr. who passed in 1981 and her son James P. Jr. who passed in 2016.
June is survived by her son Jeffrey Hanlon and daughters Jesse Hanlon and Jenifer Lucey (Dennis). She is also survived by three grandchildren; Samantha Arnold, Melissa Hocking, and Aaron Hanlon.
June was born in West Homestead, PA, and graduated from St. Thomas High School in Braddock, PA. She married James Hanlon in 1956. After several moves related to her husband’s career as a radio disc jockey, the couple finally settled in Delaware in 1969 with their four children. June was primarily a full-time mother and homemaker but also worked part-time at various jobs throughout her life. She worked full-time at Christiana Hospital as a pharmacy technician when her husband passed away at a young age. In later years, she drove a bus for Easter Seals of Delaware.
June was also very active in her community and supportive of her children's activities though their school years. She volunteered for the Rolling Hills Civic Association, Chesapeake Bay Girl Scout Council, Stanton-Newport Little League, Boy Scouts, Little Sisters of the Poor, Stanton Central Elementary Band Boosters, and the Red Cross as a Water Safety Instructor.
The family would like to thank the staff at Seasons Hospice and Cadia Silverside for their help. June's family is especially grateful to the nursing staff and aides at Cadia Silverside for their kindness and compassion.
A visitation will be held on Thursday July 19 from 10-11am with a memorial service to follow at 11am at the McCrery and Harra Funeral Home, 3710 Kirkwood Highway Wilmington 19808. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Easter Seals of Delaware.
