WILLIAM R. CATON "FLASH"

Age, 67 passed away on September 17, 2018 at home. He was born in Chester, PA to Vaughn and Mary J. (Coppock) Caton. He graduated from Ridley High School where he participated in various sports. He played on the basketball team as a point guard and was given his nick name “Flash” He was noted for his academic achievements, scoring 1470 on the SAT. After graduation he joined the United States Navy. After the Navy he worked for Siters in Ridley Township and Foamex in Darby, PA. He most recently was an Asbestos Remover for various companies and assisted with the clean up after Hurricane Katrina. He was also a handy man for the Claymont Community Center.

Flash enjoyed all sports. He played short stop and 2nd base for Johnny’s Hamburgers baseball team and loved to play Pin Ball and Darts. He was an avid fan of all Philadelphia sports teams, most especially the Philadelphia Eagles.

He was predeceased by his father. He is survived by his mother; his longtime companion Deborah Elliott and her daughter Melissa and her three children; his children, Tricia Caton, William Caton, Jr., Cassandra Caton and Vaughn Caton; his former wife, Susan Goldhahn; his brothers, Robert (Kathy) and Barry; his sister, Bonnie Maffei (John). Also left to cherish his memory are 7 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

A viewing will be held from 6:30 to 8:00 PM on Tuesday October 2nd at the McCrery and Harra Funeral Home, 3924 Concord Pike, Wilmington, DE 19803 with a funeral service to begin at 8:00 PM. Burial will be private.
