Alfred Pinelli, age 86, of Newark and Claymont, DE, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 25, 2018.
Alfred was born in Johnston, RI to the late Natalia (Placella) and Frank Pinelli, Sr. He worked at the former Woolworth’s in Providence where he met the love of his life, Dorothy DiLuglio. Alfred was the manager at the former Atlantic Department Store, Wilmington, DE for over 20 years until its closure. He and his wife Dot then opened Dottie’s Card$mart in 3 locations in Northern Delaware. He enjoyed watching sports, but loved the Red Sox and Phillies.
Alfred is survived by his wife of 61 years, Dorothy; 4 children, Rosemarie Horner (Jack), Alaina Pinelli, Alfred (Dawn Breyer) and Mark (Amie); 7 grandchildren, Jessica, Bethany Clifton (Brian), Liana Theroux (Zach), Melanie Horner, Chris, Luke and Mae; 6 great-grandchildren; and 3 siblings, Lucy Serio, Michael and Frank, Jr. Alfred is also preceded in death by his brother Louis.
A Mass and visitation will be held in Delaware this week.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the “Jimmy Fund”,, a foundation established by Ted Williams, for research and treatment for pediatric cancer or the Delaware Humane Assoc. 701 A Street, Wilmington, DE 19801.
