Joan DeLong, age 85, of Wilmington, DE died Sunday, September 30, 2018.

Joan was born on February 2, 1933 in Wilmington and graduated from P.S. du Pont High School, class of 1950.

Joan was employed by Wilmington Trust (M&T) Bank from 1949 to 1951, Eugene E. Veasey, DDS from 1951 to 1981, Joseph Anticaglia, MD from 1981 to 1984, and R. Alan Stewart, DDS from 1984 to 1998, when she retired.

Joan owned Primrose House Antiques from 1967 to 1998 when she retired from her business.

Joan was a former member of Delaware Avenue Bethany Baptist Church. The church became Immanuel Baptist Church in 1967. She taught Sunday school for 26 years and sang alto in the adult choir for 25 years.

Joan was a charter member of Brandywine Valley Baptist Church.

Joan was predeceased by her father John F. Plummer, mother Margaret S. Plummer and her husband Frederick T. DeLong.

She is survived by her sister Margaret P. Baker, nephew Jeffrey Harry Baker and his wife Joanne Baker, grandniece and nephew, and great grandniece and nephews.

The family would like to extend their thanks to the caring staff at Christiana Hospital, the Visiting Nurses and Heartland Hospice and Home Care, for their kind and compassionate care during her recent illness. They would also like to thank all of their dear friends for all that they have done for Joan.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, October 22 at 11 am at Brandywine Valley Baptist Church, 7 Mt. Lebanon Rd., Wilmington, DE where friends are invited to pay their respects beginning at 10 am. A luncheon will follow the service in the church fellowship hall. Interment will be private.
