James Charles Schneider age 74 of Wilmington, DE, passed away suddenly on October 5, 2018 with his beloved wife of 45 years and his four brothers and sisters by his side outside his hometown of Apollo, PA in Pittsburgh, PA.

Jim was a loving husband, father, devout Catholic and friend to many. He was always available to help anyone in need. He loved spending time at his Pocono home, ‘tween the Lakes, fishing with his grandson and “putzing” around in his green sweat suit and tilly hat. Jim always looked forward to making trips back to his home on the family farm in North Washington Township where many of his family still lives. He was proud of his time serving in the Air Force. He earned a Bachelor degree in engineering from Pennsylvania State University (Go Penn State). Worked for Hercules & AET Packing forming many lifelong friends. In retirement he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, walking down the street to his daughters house to help with whatever she would call him for, traveling to see his son in the west while dragging his wife along on many adventures off the beaten path, volunteering for his neighborhood civic association, Meals on Wheels, delivering bread to Emmanuel Dining Room and being the busser with style at St. Helena’s Sunday Breakfast.

He is survived by his wife Loretta (Wojick), son Michael, daughter Lori Oberly, her husband John and their two children Cru and Cadi. Jim also leaves behind his four siblings George (Tink) Schneider (Carol), Jane Miller (Jon), John Schneider (Alice) and his younger sister Lucy Ceraso (Dave). In addition to a large loving extended family and community of friends.

Visitation will take place on October 15 at 10 a.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 4701 Weldin Rd., Wilmington, DE with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Interment will follow the service at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Bear, DE.
