Wilmington- Robert F. Littel, age 89, passed away on Sunday, October 28, 2018.
He was born in Camden, NJ, on April 30, 1929, the fourth child of seven children, to the late Ermina and John Littel. Robert graduated from AI duPont HS in 1948 and in 1950 he joined the Navy, proudly serving 4 years during the Korean War. Upon returning home he was hired by Otis Elevator as a mechanic, where he worked for 40 years. Robert belonged to IUEC Local 5, where he was the local representative for Delaware. In 1958, he married Elsie Jane Clark and were happily married for 60 years. Robert was a Mason, and was also a member of the Delaware Underwater Swim Club, the Antique Car Club of DE and the American Legion. He loved NASCAR and Football.
Along with his wife, he is survived by his daughter Carolyn Littel, VMD and her husband Jeff Muehlmatt and son Jeff Littel; 3 siblings, Joyce Arvin, Emma Hartsock and Thomas Littel and numerous nieces and nephews. Robert is also preceded in death by his 3 siblings, Jack and Bill and Thelma Wheatley.
A viewing will be held on Monday, November 5, from 10-11 am, at the Chapel at Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Hwy, New Castle, where a service will follow at 11 am. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery.
