FLORETTE "FLO" CONSTANCE BOUCHARD

Flo slipped away from us serenely on November 18, 2018, with her husband of 67 years, five sons, their spouses, and many grandchildren huddled together at her bedside. God willing, she would have had it no other way.

Born in Rumford, Maine in 1931, Flo was the third child of Maria and Lucien Poulin. She was predeceased by her parents, her sister, her three brothers, a son-in-law (Rodney), and her best friend of 44 years—her only daughter (Patricia), who was as radiant as her mother.

Flo grew up in Maine in a fun-loving home and graduated from Edward Little High School. She met the love of her life (Robert “Bob” A. Bouchard) when she was 18 at a New Year’s Eve dance. They married in 1951, and started their family the next year. Flo accompanied Bob to Florida during his service as a U.S. Marine, and they relocated several times before coming to Delaware in 1969, where all her boys make their home today.

She is survived by her husband Bob, their five sons—Ronald, Daniel (Chris), Michael (Randee), Andre (AnnElise), and Paul (Michelle)—14 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.

Mom, or Mère as she was known to younger generations, was an accomplished seamstress and a great cook, with a sweet tooth for making and partaking in dreamy desserts. She enjoyed gardening, oil painting, crafts, bridge, and playing all kinds of card and board games, but most of all she enjoyed the sheer pleasure of being with family. Unselfish, kind, humble, and devoted in ways for which words fail us, it was always family first! Flo was deeply committed to her faith from which she derived the strength to be our family’s rock. She was an original parishioner of the Church of the Holy Child, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister and volunteer. If love could keep one alive, she would have lived forever.

Friends may pay their respects at the McCrery & Harra Funeral Home, 3924 Concord Pike, Wilmington, from 6-8 pm on Tuesday, November 27, 2018. A memorial Mass will be celebrated at the Church of the Holy Child, 2500 Naamans Road, Wilmington, at 11 am on Wednesday, November 28, 2018. Interment will take place privately.

Our family expresses our deep gratitude to Flo’s caretakers and therapists at the Country House and from ACTS Hospice, who returned to her in her most vulnerable moments the love she had in her heart for them.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, c/o the Church of the Holy Child.
