MARIAN GAVRON

Marian Teresa Gavron of Glen Mills, Pennsylvania, formerly of Wilmington, Delaware, passed away on January 19, 2019. She was 93.

Marian was born in Elizabeth, New Jersey and lived her childhood and early adult years in Linden, New Jersey. It is there that she met Henry Gavron, who she married in 1947. They moved to Troy, New York where she worked as a typist for the Federal Government while her husband went to college and started a career with DuPont. They lived in Woodstown, New Jersey for 3 years and eventually settled in Wilmington, Delaware where they joined Saint Mary Magdalen Catholic Church and raised their family.

She was a devoted mother and wife, and she had a very rewarding career working as a teacher’s aide for 15 years at the Charles W. Bush School in Wilmington. After she retired, she enjoyed taking cruises with friends to see the world. She also enjoyed the simple pleasures of vacationing with relatives in Seaside Heights, New Jersey, and at her “summer place” condo overlooking the bay in Dewey Beach, Delaware. She was kind-hearted and always ready to help someone in need. Her favorite time of the year was the Christmas holidays when she could spend time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She enjoyed crossword puzzles and cryptograms, often completing The Philadelphia Inquirer Sunday puzzle, which is probably why she usually won in Scrabble, a game she loved to play. She also enjoyed playing bridge, dancing, needlepoint, and reading. Marian was passionate about maintaining a healthy lifestyle through diet, exercise, and good living which contributed significantly to her ability to enjoy a host of activities well into her late 80s and early 90s.

Marian was predeceased by her husband in 1999. She is survived by her children, Lori Luisi and Paul of Deptford, New Jersey, Robert Gavron and Deborah of Greer, South Carolina, and Michael Gavron and Kate of Millsboro, Delaware. She is also survived by six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Monday, January 28th, at 10:00 a.m., followed by an 11:00 a.m. memorial service, at the Maris Grove chapel located at 200 Maris Grove Way, Glen Mills, Pennsylvania. The chapel is connected to the Maris Grove Cardinal Clubhouse. Interment will take place privately.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Marian’s name to the Maris Grove Scholar’s Fund, Maris Grove Office of Philanthropy, 200 Maris Grove Way, Glen Mills, Pennsylvania, 19342.
