JOSEPHINE M. FINOCCHIARO

Josephine M. Finocchiaro, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend passed away peacefully on Monday, January 28, 2019 at the age of 83.
Josephine was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to the late Guiseppe and Carmela Alestra. She grew up and lived in Mullica Hill, New Jersey and moved to Delaware in 1956 when she married her husband, Michael A. Finocchiaro, Sr.
After marrying, Josephine and Mike built their dream house in north Wilmington, raised three children and shared (35) years of marriage. Josephine loved being a homemaker and after her children were grown, she enjoyed a career in the food service industry. Josephine worked for Brandywine School District, ICI (Astra-Zeneca) and Edgemoor Community Center.
Josephine enjoyed spending time with her family and the holidays were always a special time for her. One of her greatest joys in life was cooking for her family and her homemade Italian cuisine was her specialty.
In addition to her parents, Josephine was predeceased by her husband, Michael A. Finocchiaro, Sr., (5) brothers, and daughter-in-law Gina Finocchiaro.
Josephine is survived and dearly missed by her (3) sons; Michael A., Jr. and Thomas R. (Debra) of Wilmington and James J. of Rhode Island, (7) grandchildren; Denielle (Paul), Michael, III, Joshua, Nina, Richard, Shane (Danielle) and Kimberly, (3) great-grandchildren; Kayden, Kameron, and Anthony, sister-in-laws; Darlene, Marion and Lena Alestra.
The family extends a special thank you to Brandywine Hundred Fire Co., No. 1, Harbor Chase of Wilmington and Vitas Hospice for the loving care they provided to Josephine.
A viewing will be held on Sunday, February 3, 2019 from 1:00-3:00 p.m. at the McCrery & Harra Funeral Home, 3924 Concord Pike (Rt. 202 South of Silverside Road) Wilmington, DE 19803. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow on Monday, February 4th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Helena’s Catholic Church, 602 Philadelphia Pike, Wilmington, DE 19809. Burial will be in All Saints Cemetery.
