Jean Reynard passed away peacefully on January 18, 2022, three days prior to her 101st birthday. Jean was predeceased by her parents Joseph and Stella Haden and her husband John (Jock) Reynard; also, her sisters Katherine, Josephine, Mildred, Dorothy and her brothers, Charles, Samuel, Richard and Paul. She is survived by her son David of Wilmington, her daughter Susan of Boston and her daughter Janice of Wilmington. She was most proud her grandchildren John, Jason and Evan along with her great grandchildren Sasha, William, Nathan, Paul and Bo. She was also survived by a large extended family.
Jean was born in Morgantown West Virginia in 1921. She graduated from the University of West Virginia in 1943 where she majored in home economics. She was a member of the Delta Gamma Sorority.She met her future husband while teaching in 1944. Their marriage took her to Richland, Washington where she worked with classified documents of the Atomic Bomb Project.
After the end of World War II, she and John moved to Delaware, settling in Wilmington in 1955. Over the next five decades she participated in many community activities including serving on the Board of the Florence Crittenden Home, the Board of Directors of Kentmere Nursing Home, and many volunteer activities at Westminster Presbyterian Church. There she served as a deacon, elder and dedicated Member of the Women’s Association. She enjoyed many social activities especially enjoying cooking, bridge, golf and flower arranging. She will forever be remembered as multi-talented, dedicating herself to her family and friends with passion and commitment.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Country House, where she resided for twenty years, for their care and support.
