Simmons, Connie

Constance “Connie” Lee Simmons, 69, of Wilmington, Delaware, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on August 4th, 2022 after battling cancer for almost three years. Connie, a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, was born July 15, 1953 in Scranton, PA. Daughter of the late John Kuder and Jane (Meech) Kuder, she leaves her loving husband of 40 years, Howard E. Simmons, III. Connie will be especially missed by her devoted children, Ensign & Kaitlyn Simmons, and Curtis Simmons. Affectionately known as “Grammy” she will live forever in the hearts of her beloved granddaughters, Charlotte and Madeleine Simmons. Connie is also survived by her brother John Kuder, nephews, and many lifelong friends.

After a successful career with American Express, Connie was fortunate to pursue a passion for travel. She and Howard enjoyed many adventures far and wide over the years, most recently an amazing trip to Costa Rica. She will be remembered as a loving and supportive woman who had a meaningful and lasting impact on everyone she knew. Connie was patient and resolute in all situations and always looked for the positives in life.

Connie would tell you that she was not great in the kitchen, but her signature “butter cookies” were always the highlight of any gathering; often requested in bulk in advance! Connie loved the water and the beach, especially the Jersey Shore. She and her family share many fond memories of their summers spent at their home in Avalon, NJ, where Connie’s friends dubbed her the title of “Saint Connie.”

A Celebration of Life honoring Connie will be held on Saturday August 27th, 11:00 AM, at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Wilmington, DE. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to The Tatnall School, Faithful Friends, and A. I. Nemours Children’s Hospital.
