MaryBeth Hetzler, 44, of Newark DE, passed away at home on October 2, 2022, surrounded by her family.
Born in Wilmington, DE, MaryBeth was a 1995 graduate of Newark High School. She graduated from the University of Delaware in 2000, and received her Master’s Degree from Wilmington University in 2004. MaryBeth was a Kindergarten teacher at Bancroft, McVey, Jones, and since 2011, West Park Place Elementary School.
MaryBeth enjoyed attending her daughters’ many dance recitals and musical performances and spending time at the gym. She also enjoyed traveling with her family, especially to Ocean City, NJ and Walt Disney World.
MaryBeth was predeceased by her mother Cynthia W. Lewis. She is survived by her husband of 21 years, Andrew J. Hetzler; her daughters Claire and Corinne Hetzler; brothers, David Lewis and his wife Jill, Richard Lewis Jr. and his husband Jonathan; and her father Richard Lewis Sr. Additionally, she is survived by her uncle and aunt, William and Stephanie Wood of Leonardtown, MD; and her cousins, Michelle and Nolan Wood, and Katie McFarland. She will be lovingly remembered by her many friends and family members.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Laird Performing Arts Center at The Tatnall School, 1501 Barley Mill Road, Wilmington DE 19807 on October 15, 2022 at 11am with a reception to follow. Due to the occasional use of a security checkpoint on Barley Mill Road, we recommend you approach campus from the Centerville Road side.
