Henry George Russell, age 86, of Middletown, formerly of the Bronx, NY, died November 22, 2022.
Henry attended Eltham Park Primary and Exchange All Age schools in Jamaica. He made his career in hospitality, working for the Plantation Inn Hotel for over thirty years. Henry enjoyed watching horse racing and playing cricket. He was a member of the Content Gardens Cricket Club as well as the Plantation Inn Hotel Cricket Team.
Henry was predeceased by his wife Amy Louise Russell, daughter Maxine Elaine Goldsmith, and granddaughter Alicia (Crystal) Cassie. He is survived by his children Warren Russell (Nicola) of Connecticut, Marcia Cassie (Errol) of Pennsylvania, Novelette Barnes (Errol) of Bronx, NY, and Phillippa Wittock (Garth) of Middletown, DE; son-in-law Lascelles Goldsmith of Jamaica; grandchildren David Goldsmith, Diana Goldsmith-White, Kevin Russell, Michael Russell, Travis Cassie, Tianna Cassie, Dujon Barnes, Phylicia Wittock, and Garth Wittock, Jr.; great grandchildren Victoria Goldsmith, Deborah Goldsmith, Aquila Goldsmith, Seraphina Goldsmith, Dragomir White, Maximus White, Kayden Russell, Lamar Russell, Logan Cassie, and Kaia Barnes; and siblings Alma Scott of Jamaica, Hazel Bridgette of Queens, NY, Lionel Russell of Jamaica, Vernal Russell of Queens, NY, Patsy Russell Ogungbemi-Jackson of Canada, Terrice Miller of Jamaica, Eric Russell of Jamaica, Kingsley Russell of Canada, and Roydel Russell of Chicago.
A viewing will be held on Friday, December 9 from 10 am – 1 pm at the McCrery & Harra Funeral Home, 3710 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE 19808. Friends and family who are unable to attend in person may watch a livestream of the viewing at https://my.gather.app/remember/henry-russell. A funeral service will be held at 2 pm at St. Anne’s Episcopal Church, 15 E. Green St., Middletown, DE 19709. Burial will take place at a later time in Jamaica.
