Edward W. Bara, 83, of Newark, DE, passed away on Thursday, December 15, 2022, at Christiana Hospital.
Born November 30, 1939, he was the son of William Edward Bara and Mary Gladys (Rubright) Bara from western Pennsylvania.
A 20+ year cancer survivor, he was a 50-year member of Plumbers and Pipefitters Local #74, an active member of the Newark National Little League, and worked at Walt Disney World for 5 years. In retirement he spent much of his time travelling via RV and enjoyed water volleyball and spending time with his friends at campgrounds in Florida, Pennsylvania, and South Carolina.
His parents, brother (William “Bill” Bara), and son (Russell “Rusty” Bara) precede him in death.
He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Ilene (Phillips) Bara; sister Delores “Dory” Hughes; sister-in-law Kay Bara (Cumby); and his children and their spouses: Vicky Windle (Bobby Windle), Timothy Bara (Sue Lion) and Edward Bara (Jennifer Nase).
One of Ed’s greatest joys was time spent with his grand and great-grandchildren: Brandi, Shawna, Danielle, Thomas, Zoe, Alex, Sydney, Nicholas, Austin, Scarlett, Kayleigh, and Jamison.
Friends and family are invited to share a Celebration of Life on Saturday, January 21, 2023, at Trinity Lutheran Fairview Village (1190 Valley Forge Road, Norristown, PA 19403) with visitation at 11 AM followed by a memorial service at 11:30 AM. A luncheon and fellowship will follow the service.
