John S. White, III, age 45, passed away unexpectedly in his home on February 16, 2023. He was born in Wilmington, DE on May 20, 1977.
John attended Christiana High School and was employed as a chef at Stonegates Retirement Community. It allowed him to express his creativity in the food preparation industry.
As a teen, John won the Delaware Pushmobile State Championship in 1989. He played a variety of sports and was an avid Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles fan. John loved riding his motorcycle and had a knack for working on mechanical engines, he also enjoyed taking family vacations at the beach.
John was a dedicated husband and father and was supportive in his children’s school and sports activities. He was especially great at giving encouraging words and hugs to his daughter, as well as the playful tickles he gave to his two young sons.
John is survived by his wife, Valerie White, with whom he had their three children, Kylie, Jax and Ethan; his two older adult children, Justin and Brianna, and granddaughter Mackenzie. John is also survived by his parents, John and Kathleen White, his brother Stephen and wife Kimberly White and his sister Jennifer White.
A visitation will be held at the McCrery and Harra Funeral Home, 3710 Kirkwood Highway on Thursday March 2 from 10-11:30 am, followed by a brief memorial service at 11:30. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations could be made to his children’s college funds.
