Tana Baughman Hinman, age 66, of Wilmington, DE passed away peacefully on April 22, 2023 after a short illness with loved ones by her side.
She was born in Greensburg, PA to Dorothy and the late Ronald Baughman and raised in Wilmington, DE. She was a graduate of Concord High School (1975) and James Madison University (1979). Tana worked as a Clinical Social Worker for the State of Delaware for several years before becoming a stay-at-home mom.
Tana will be remembered for devoting her life to caring for others, both in her career and personal life. She spent time nurturing her friendships and had an extraordinarily large circle of friends, some dating back to childhood. She gave loving care to her father-in-law and later her husband Mark during their terminal illnesses. With her father’s passing in 2021 Tana enjoyed the additional time spent with her mother helping with getting her to appointments, shopping and of course stopping for lunch. Her sisters greatly appreciated her being available while they were working.
She cherished her role as mother to Kim and spent many hours volunteering at Kim’s schools and as a Girl Scout leader. More recently, she has supported Kim in her career as a teacher by volunteering in her classroom. Her last years were filled with joy spending time with her grandson Colton.
Tana was predeceased by her husband Mark in 2000, her father Ronald in 2021, her in-laws Ken and Erika Hinman, and a few close friends.
She is survived by her daughter, Kimberly Rulon (David); grandson Colton; her mother Dorothy; her sisters, Cindy DeYoe and Lori Raphael; brother-in-law Bob Hinman (Judy) and many nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held on Friday, April 28 from 10-11:30 am at Aldersgate UMC, 2313 Concord Pike, Wilmington, DE 19803 with a Celebration of Life at 11:30 am. Luncheon to follow at the church. Interment will be private.
