Joseph Thomas Cella, Jr. age 86, of Newark, Delaware passed away on Friday, April 28, 2023 peacefully at home.
Joseph was born and raised in Wilmington, Delaware with his sister Marie. He graduated from Howard High in 1954. He served honorably in the United States Army right out of high school. Joseph had a passion for fishing and the Philadelphia Phillies. He worked as a general foreman for New Castle County for 38 years.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years Helen in 2016, his father Joseph Sr., mother Louisa and granddaughter English Ayn Boyd.
Joseph is survived by his daughters Theresa Lammey and Toni Mills (Kevin), his grandchildren D.J. Moore, Dustin Moore, Melissa Mills and Kevin Mills, Jr., 5 great-grandchildren, sister Marie Pinder (Dick) and a host of nieces and nephews.
Friends may call on Monday May 8, 2023 from 10 am to 11 am at Holy Family Church, 15 Gender Road, Newark DE 19713 where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am. Burial will be held privately at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
