Carol Beth Founds of Wilmington, DE passed away on Sunday July 30, 2023 at the age of 80.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Lewis H. Founds. She is survived by her son L. Mark Founds (spouse Tracy) of Mason, OH, Susan D. Taylor (spouse Scott) of Rochester, MI, and four grandchildren: Courtney, Matthew, Michael, and Emma.
As the daughter of a longtime DuPont employee, Carol Beth Prather was born in Tulsa, OK, and lived in Oklahoma, Kentucky, Tennessee, Indiana, and New Jersey before finally settling in the Wilmington area before her junior year of high school. A graduate of Conrad High School, she received a degree in music from Chowan College in North Carolina.
Carol Beth worked at DuPont prior to getting married in 1965 and held several other administrative positions as her children grew older. She also served as an accompanist and choir member at several churches in the Wilmington area, including Brandywine Valley Baptist Church where she was a longtime member. Carol Beth was an avid fan of the Phillies, Penn State, and the Indianapolis 500, greatly enjoying these pastimes with her family and friends. Carol Beth was blessed to enjoy her final days in her beloved Ocean City, NJ surrounded by family.
A memorial service will be held at Brandywine Valley Church on Friday Aug. 4 at 11:00 am, with visitation beginning at 10:00. A private burial will be held at Arlington Cemetery in Drexel Hill, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made at giving.christianacare.org. These gifts can be designated to “The Helen F. Graham Cancer Center” and with a Tribute annotation of “Carol Beth Founds”.
